CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY

GASTRONOMIC DISCOVERY

WE ARE RECRUITING!!!

Cambridge University Food Society – “Gastronomic Discovery” (CUGD) has been up and running for almost a year now, and an encouraging year it has been.

Throughout the year we’ve held a handful of sell-out events including two cheese tastings, a chocolate tasting, a bakery tour and bread tasting as well as a vegan cookery workshop. All events were a great success – bringing people together to celebrate and enjoy local food - and there is plenty potential for much, much more but we need you!

The CUGD executive committee is looking to hand over to enthusiastic food lovers to take over for the up and coming year.

With more than 300 members and our own website established we’re going strong. What’s more, we’re a Slow Food on Campus group with access to numerous resources to help promote the Slow Food movement within our community. We’re keen to promote and support a variety of food-related community projects by passing on the information to our members.

Do you have a passion for good food? Do you like to cook, taste and shop? Are you eager to be an events manager? Do you like to write restaurant and recipe reviews or take food photography? Are you a potential web-master in the making? There are numerous opportunities to get involved in this society, energy and enthusiasm is all that’s required.

If you are interested in becoming a more active member in CUGD it would be great to hear from you. We will be at the Fresher’s Fair in October this year (2011) but are welcoming current members to take on new roles prior to this date to facilitate the handover before the Freshers arrive.

To express your interest, please email Lindsey at lmb81@cam.ac.uk

As mentioned above, CUGD is a member organisation of Slow Food on Campus – a student led initiative enabling groups to influence food systems within the university and/or local community. We believe that CUGD members would be interested in knowing about their activities and events, so we are setting up a dedicated mailing list and by default we are including you all. If you would prefer not to receive occasional emails from SFoC please email Lindsey, lmb81@cam.ac.uk, with the subject: 'No email SFoC' and you will not be included in this dedicated list.
